The Shelly 1PM GEN3 is the new enhanced version of Shelly’s single circuit smart relay module, the Shelly PLUS 1PM (Gen2). Like the previous Shelly Plus 1PM (Gen2) version, the Shelly 1PM GEN3’s wet contact output features a power meter.

(If you need a standard module without a power meter and dry contact support, choose the Shelly 1 Gen3 smart relay.)

Like all other Shelly products, it connects directly to your Wi-Fi router, so no local hub or gateway (bridge) is required to control it. It can be installed as a standalone device to automate lights or other electrical device.

It is one of the smallest Wi-Fi devices for smart control and power consumption of wall switches or sockets. Its compact size makes it possible to be installed behind a standard light switch, socket in a wall box or electrical junction box, as a retrofit solution.

Installed behind existing switches or sockets in a wall socket, the Shelly 1PM GEN3 allows you to remotely control your lighting or other loads, track their on/off status while keeping your existing switches or sockets, and measure power consumption, making it ideal for retrofit smart control. The Shelly 1PM GEN3 is widely used behind single-button light switches and sockets to control them, and its 16A maximum rating makes it suitable for controlling sockets.

The Shelly 1PM GEN3 relay, like other small Shelly smart relays, includes a switch input, meaning that when installed behind light switches you can still use the wall switch to switch the lamp (or other consumer), and remotely switch the controlled lamp or other device via WiFi, and a range of timers are available. There is also the option to disable the switch in the Shelly app – useful for small children in some rooms – with these settings the relay can only be controlled from the app.

The relay is compatible not only with toggle switches, but also with rocker and push-button switches. It can also be used together with 2-way and 3-way switches.

With its auto-off function, it can also be set to momentary switching mode.

The Shelly 1PM GEN3 relay switches on the input (110V-240V AC / 24V-30V DC) at its output (max. 16A), so this type is NOT suitable for dry contact switching!

Important: the live wire of the power supply and the live wire in the switch input must belong from the same phase, as Shelly 1PM GEN3 is not suitable for multi-phase operation!

DEVICE SIZE, DIN-RAIL ADAPTER:

The Shelly 1PM GEN3 has the same dimensions as its predecessor, so standard DIN adapters can be used with GEN3 relays. It also includes wiring diagrams for easy and clear wiring.

BLUETOOTH PAIRING:

Pairing requires the new Shelly Cloud app, not compatible with the old Shelly Cloud app. Pairing is done with the same speed as Shelly Plus 1PM thanks to the built-in Bluetooth chip.

MORE POWERFUL PROCESSOR, MORE FEATURES:

The ESP32 processor in Shelly Plus 1PM has been replaced by the ESP-Shelly-C38F processor in GEN3 products, which features an even faster and more powerful CPU and double the 8MB of memory, offering enhanced features and faster operation than the PLUS product line.

OVERHEAT AND OVERVOLTAGE PROTECTION:

The Shelly 1PM GEN3 is equipped with overheat protection, overvoltage protection and overload protection, ensuring even safer operation in small spaces with wall-mounted sockets.

SHELLY GEN3 FEATURES:

Product:

  • Supports HTTP/HTTPS webhooks, making it easy to connect to, notify or control compatible products or other automation systems from Shelly Plus products
  • Like Shelly Plus devices, support for sunrise/sunset timed off/on, now with +/-23 hour offset
  • Ability to handle up to 20 timers (stored on the device, also offline)
  • Supports mjS scripts, allowing customers to create their own functions and features! Shelly GEN3 line devices allow multiple scripts to be executed together, depending on different triggers such as input/output status, sensor data or WLAN requests
  • GEN3 Supports Virtual Components, so you can create additional functions and change these values or states from external systems using HTTP commands
  • It can also perform Bluetooth gateway functionality, and GEN3 devices can even communicate with Shelly BLU sensors and remote controllers via local cloud connection, allowing islanding between GEN3 and BLU devices.

Timing:

  • Off/on timing can be set for days of the week, and
  • supports both sunrise and sunset timings (not only exact time, but also sunset + 5 hours type timings.)
  • It also supports auto-off and auto-on timing, i.e. on/off after a fixed time off or on.

Supported modes:

  • Cloud mode: in such a case the device connects to the free Shelly Cloud, which can be used to control the devices from the Shelly Cloud smartphone app (available for iOS and Android) or from https://home.shelly.cloud/; or
  • Choose LAN (Local Area Network) mode, in which case devices can only be controlled from devices connected to the local network;
  • Alternatively, we can operate the device (instead of Wi-Fi client mode) in WiFi Access Point mode (e.g. if there is no permanent WiFi network at the installation site), in which case you can connect a mobile phone or notebook directly to the Wi-Fi Access Point network, and control the device on a local web UI of the device.

In Cloud mode, Shelly devices can also control each other using the Shelly Cloud Scenes (for example, a Shelly relay installed behind a light switch can turn on/off another Shelly relay behind an outlet) and turn it on/off.

It is also supported to control each other directly with HTTP commands (DDD, Direct Device-to-Device) even without using Shelly Cloud, in LAN mode, when using fixed IP addresses. So Shelly devices can also turn each other off/on on the local network or through internet disconnection, using the Actions (HTTP calls) that can be configured in the Shelly App

Consumption data is saved to the Shelly Cloud account when the smart device is in cloud mode, and you can view and download consumption history in the app.

Integrations:

Even with its factory firmware, the Shelly is one of the easiest smart devices on the market to integrate. It supports MQTT and control via REST API. Compatible with Google Home, Amazon Echo and Yandey Alice voice control. Unlike the Shelly 1PM, the Shelly Plus 1PM and Shelly 1PM GEN3 support both Cloud and MQTT control simultaneously.

A number of Shelly devices are already integrated with the SmartThings platform via Shelly Cloud.

In addition, the factory firmware also supports a range of other open source and other systems:

  • MQTT
  • HomeSeer
  • ioBroker
  • Home Assistant
  • openHAB
  • Domoticz
  • SYMCAN
  • nymea
  • Hubitat
  • Hoobs
  • REST API

Installation:

  • Typically fits into standard size wall boxes behind switches and sockets.
  • With DIN-rail adapter (separate product).
  • Compatible with Shelly Plus Add-On.

Other technical parameters:

Power supply: 110-230V AC ±10%, and 24V-30V DC

Maximum power: 3500W / 16A

Like other smart relays, Shelly 1PM Gen3 requires both live and neutral wires.

Richard McClintock, a Latin scholar from Hampden-Sydney College, is credited with discovering the source behind the ubiquitous filler text. In seeing a sample of lorem ipsum, his interest was piqued by consectetur—a genuine, albeit rare, Latin word. Consulting a Latin dictionary led McClintock to a passage from De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum On the Extremes of Good and Evil, a first-century B.C. text from the Roman.

Carried only by professionals

So when is it okay to use lorem ipsum? First, lorem ipsum works well for staging. It’s like the props in a furniture store—filler text makes it look like someone is home. The same Wordpress template might eventually be home to a fitness blog, a photography website, or the online journal of a cupcake fanatic. Lorem ipsum helps them imagine what the lived-in website might look like.
