The Shelly Plus 1PM Mini GEN3 is the successor to Shelly’s single-circuit mini power meter smart relay, the Shelly Plus 1PM Mini. Like the Shelly Plus 1PM Mini, the Shelly PLUS 1PM MINI GEN3 is equipped with a meter and, like its predecessor, can be loaded with a maximum current of 8A, making it suitable for switching and metering lighting and other lower power consumers.
Like all other Shelly products, it connects directly to the WiFi router, no local control centre, hub or bridge is needed to control it. It can be installed as a standalone device, just 1 device to automate or meter an electrical consumer or lighting, or as a complete system to turn a whole property, whether new build or under renovation, into a smart home.
It is one of the smallest WiFi enabled devices for smart control of switches and smart metering. Its tiny size allows you to conveniently install it behind a standard light switch in a wall socket or in a junction box, even afterwards, and remotely control your lighting or other appliances below 8A and monitor their on/off status.
By installing the Shelly PLUS 1PM MINI GEN3 behind existing switches in the wall socket, we can remotely control our lighting or other loads, track their on/off status and power consumption while keeping our existing switches, making the product ideal for retrofit “smarting”. It is also an excellent choice for controlling one-button light switches, but its 8A maximum power rating makes it unsuitable for controlling sockets!
The Shelly Plus 1PM Mini Gen3 relay, like other small Shelly smart relays, includes a switch input, meaning that when installed behind a light switch you can still use the wall switch to switch the lamp (or other load), and remotely switch the controlled lamp or other device via WiFi, and have a range of timers at your disposal. There is also the option to disable the switch in the Shelly app – useful for small children in some rooms – with these settings the relay can only be controlled from the app.
The relay is compatible not only with two-position switches, but also with rocker (or bell) switches. It can also be used to connect alternative and cross-over switches.
With its auto-off function, it can also be set to pulse switching mode.
The Shelly PLUS 1PM MINI GEN3 relay switches the supply voltage (110V-240V AC) at its output (max. 8A), so this type is not suitable for dry contact switching!
Important: the phase provided for the operation of the Shelly PLUS 1PM MINI and the switched phase(s) from the switch(es) must be from the same phase, the Shelly Plus 1PM MINI is not suitable for multi-phase operation!
GATEWAY FUNCTIONS:
Its predecessor is equipped with ESP32 chip, but the Shelly Plus 1PM Mini GEN3 is now equipped with ESP-Shelly-C38F chip. Like its predecessor, the device also supports Wi-Fi + Bluetooth protocols. It also includes a Bluetooth gateway, it can also act as a Bluetooth receiver/gateway for Shelly’s new generation Bluetooth sensors and Bluetooth remote control. It also includes a Wi-Fi repeater function, which, when enabled, transmits a Wi-Fi signal to remotely installed Shelly devices – a kind of Wi-Fi mesh.
BLUETOOTH PAIRING:
Pairing with your phone is simple and fast, using Bluetooth, just like other second-generation Shelly Plus and Pro devices.
MORE POWERFUL PROCESSOR, MORE FEATURES:
The Shelly Plus 1PM Mini GEN3 is now part of the third generation, with twice as much memory as its predecessor ESP-Shelly-C38F chip. This has increased its memory from 4MB to 8MB.
OVERHEATING AND OVERVOLTAGE PROTECTION:
The Shelly Plus 1PM Mini is equipped with overheat protection, overvoltage protection and overload protection, ensuring even safer operation in small spaces with wall sockets.
SHELLY PLUS FEATURES:
Product:
Supports HTTP/HTTPS webhooks, so enhanced Shelly Plus products can easily connect, notify or control compatible products or other automation systems
Support for sunrise/sunset timed on/off, now with +/-23 hour offset,
can handle up to 20 timers (stored on the device and working offline),
supports mjS scripts, allowing customers to create their own functions and features! Shelly Plus line devices allow multiple scripts to be executed simultaneously, depending on different triggers such as input/output status, sensor data or WLAN requests.
Timeliness:
Off/on timing can be set for days of the week, and
support for sunrise and sunset timings (not only for exact time, but also for sunset + 5 hours type timings.)
It also supports auto-off and auto-on timing, i.e. on/off after a fixed time off or on.
Supported modes:
Cloud/Cloud mode: then connects to the free Shelly Cloud, which can be used to control and configure devices from the Shelly Cloud smartphone app (available for iOS and Android) and from https://home.shelly.cloud/; or
select LAN / local network mode, in which case devices can only be controlled from devices connected to the local network; or
operate the device (instead of WiFi client mode) in WiFi Access Point mode (e.g. if there is no permanent WiFi network at the installation site), in which case you can connect a mobile phone or notebook near the device directly to the WiFi AC network broadcast by the device and control the device during the connection.
Consumption data is saved to the Shelly Cloud account when the smart device is in cloud mode, and you can view and download consumption history in the app.
In Cloud mode, Shelly devices can also control each other (under complex conditions) using the Shelly Cloud Scene (for example, a Shelly relay mounted behind a light switch can turn on/off another Shelly relay behind an outlet that is independent of the Shelly relay from a wiring point on the cloud, and turn it on/off from a wiring point on the cloud, i.e. devices can control each other simply by using WIFi and the factory cloud without wires, according to rules we specify.)
It is also possible to control each other directly with HTTP commands (DDD, Direct Device-to-Device) (even without using Shelly Cloud, even in LAN mode), when using fixed IP addresses, i.e. Shelly devices can also turn each other off/on on the local network in case of external internet disconnection (or disabling on the firewall), using so-called Actions that can be configured in the Shelly App.
The Shelly PLUS 1PM smart control is also available for free with the manufacturer’s own NEW smartphone app and its own Cloud service.
Integrations:
Even with its factory firmware, Shelly is one of the easiest smart devices on the market to integrate. It supports MQTT and control via REST API. Compatible with Google Home, Amazon Echo and Yandey Alice voice control. Shelly Plus 1PM MINI GEN3 supports both Cloud and MQTT control simultaneously.
Many Shelly devices are already integrated with the SmartThings platform via Shelly Cloud.
In addition, the factory firmware supports a range of other open source and other systems:
- MQTT
- HomeSeer
- ioBroker
- Home Assistant
- openHAB
- Domoticz
- SYMCAN
- nymea
- Hubitat
- Hoobs
- REST API
Availability:
Thanks to its tiny size, it fits into the smallest wall socket, typically behind fittings.
Other technical parameters:
Operating voltage: 110-230V AC ±10%.
Output: 8A / max 240V AC
As with other smart relays, this one requires not only a phase conductor but also a neutral conductor.
